How it works

Calculation methodology

The projection combines employee and employer EPF contributions, splits the employer share into EPF and EPS when eligible, and applies the entered annual EPF interest assumption to the EPF balance. The current default wage ceiling is ₹25,000 from 17 September 2026; transition-month and account-specific rules are not modeled.

Important assumptions

  • Results are estimates based on the values you enter.
  • Rates and returns are assumed for the projection period and may change in real life.
  • Taxes, fees, market conditions and provider-specific rules may affect actual outcomes.

India provident-fund source

The model reflects the ₹25,000 monthly EPFO wage ceiling effective 17 September 2026 and the current 8.25% FY 2025-26 EPF interest rate as defaults. Contribution allocation and EPS eligibility are simplified; the calculator does not model EDLI, September 2026 transition-day calculations, higher-wage options or every service rule.

Sources checked October 2, 2026. Rates and scheme terms are not live-updated.

EPF Calculator Guide

What Is an EPF Calculator?

An Employee Provident Fund (EPF) calculator estimates how monthly employee and employer contributions may build a retirement balance over your years of service. It shows the projected EPF corpus, estimated interest and the modeled split between EPF and EPS contributions.

This is an estimate based on the assumptions entered, not an official EPFO account statement. Actual balances depend on eligible wages, contribution rules, service history, credited interest and account-specific records.

How to Use the EPF Calculator

Enter your monthly basic salary plus dearness allowance, employee and employer contribution percentages, the wage ceiling used for your scenario, EPS eligibility, the interest-rate assumption and years of service.

Review the employee EPF contribution, employer EPF share and EPS contribution separately. If your employer uses a different contribution basis or an approved arrangement, use the values that match your actual payroll and verify them with HR or official EPFO guidance.

How Employee and Employer Contributions Are Estimated

The model calculates contributions using the lower of your monthly basic plus dearness allowance and the entered EPF wage ceiling, when a positive ceiling is supplied. It applies the entered employee and employer rates to that modeled wage.

The employer contribution is split between EPS and EPF when EPS eligibility is selected. The EPS portion is shown separately and is not added to the projected EPF corpus. Actual payroll treatment can vary with applicable rules and individual circumstances.

How EPF Interest and the Final Balance Are Projected

The calculator adds the modeled monthly EPF contributions to the running balance and estimates interest monthly, then adds the accumulated interest at the end of each modeled year. It repeats this process for the selected service period.

The entered annual interest rate is an assumption, not a live EPFO rate feed. Actual interest credited can depend on official rates, contribution timing, account records and applicable rules, so the projected balance may differ from your statement.

EPF Example: Compare Salary and Service Periods

Try changing one input at a time—for example, monthly basic plus dearness allowance, the contribution ceiling or years of service—to see how the modeled monthly contributions and projected EPF balance change.

A longer service period can allow more contributions and more time for interest to accumulate, but this projection assumes the entered salary, rates and eligibility settings remain unchanged throughout the period. It does not predict future salary changes.

What This EPF Estimate Does Not Include

The projection does not reproduce your official EPFO passbook, model every salary or contribution change, or determine final withdrawal, transfer, tax or pension entitlements. EPS contributions are displayed separately and are not valued as part of the EPF corpus.

Use the result for planning only. Confirm the applicable contribution basis, wage ceiling, interest rate, eligibility and account-specific treatment with your employer and current official guidance.

This is an estimate, not an official EPFO statement. Verify your contribution basis, current rates and account-specific rules with official guidance.

What does an EPF calculator estimate?

It estimates your EPF balance from monthly salary inputs, employee and employer contribution assumptions, an interest-rate assumption and years of service. It is not an official EPFO balance.

How does the EPF wage ceiling affect the estimate?

The model limits the contribution wage to the entered ceiling when that ceiling is greater than zero. Check the ceiling and contribution basis applicable to your account instead of assuming one setting applies to everyone.

What is EPS, and is it included in the EPF corpus?

EPS is the Employees' Pension Scheme portion modeled separately from the EPF balance. The calculator displays the estimated EPS contribution but does not add it to the projected EPF corpus or estimate a pension benefit.

How does the calculator estimate EPF interest?

It adds modeled monthly EPF contributions to the balance, estimates interest monthly and adds the accumulated interest at each modeled year-end. Actual account crediting and rounding may differ.

Will the projected EPF balance match my EPFO passbook?

Not necessarily. This is an estimate, not an account statement. Actual contributions, credited interest, transfers, withdrawals, payroll changes and applicable rules can affect your balance.

Which salary should I enter for EPF?

Enter the monthly basic salary plus dearness allowance used for your EPF contribution calculation. Your employer's actual PF wage basis may depend on applicable rules and your employment terms; confirm it with payroll or official guidance.

What is the difference between employee and employer EPF contributions?

The calculator applies the entered employee and employer rates to the modeled PF wage. It then splits the modeled employer share between EPF and EPS according to the inputs and assumptions.

Which EPF interest rate should I enter?

Use the official rate applicable to the period you want to estimate and verify it with current EPFO guidance. The rate is an editable assumption; the calculator does not automatically fetch the live rate.

Does the calculator account for salary increases or job changes?

No. It keeps the entered salary, contribution rates, ceiling and eligibility settings constant over the selected service period. Model a simple scenario only, and remember that real payroll and service histories can change.

Does this calculator estimate my EPS pension or EPF tax?

No. It shows modeled EPS contributions separately but does not calculate pension entitlement, withdrawal eligibility or personal tax treatment. Check current official guidance for your circumstances.
